WHISTLE BLOWER

SEMMCO

Do you have something you want to tell us?

At Semmco, we are committed to maintaining a healthy, open and responsible working culture. Everyone working with or for Semmco has a responsibility to comply with applicable regulations and to act ethically.

Many situations can be resolved through open communication as soon as they arise. However, there may be circumstances involving serious misconduct, unethical behaviour or risks to health and safety that require a different and confidential way of reporting.

It is important to us that serious concerns are raised so that we have the opportunity to investigate and take appropriate action.

What is the Semmco whistleblowing service?

The whistleblowing service provides a secure way for employees and other people professionally connected to Semmco to report serious concerns when it may not be appropriate to use the normal communication channels within the organisation.

Semmco uses Trumpet, an external whistleblowing service that allows concerns to be reported securely, confidentially and, if you choose, anonymously.

What can be reported?

The whistleblowing service is intended for reporting serious misconduct that should be disclosed in the public interest, or breaches of applicable legislation, which you have become aware of through your professional relationship with Semmco.

Examples may include financial crime, environmental offences, serious unethical conduct or situations that present an imminent risk to people's health or safety.

General dissatisfaction concerning day-to-day business operations, leadership, pay or other ordinary HR matters will normally not qualify as whistleblowing matters and should instead be raised through the appropriate internal channels.

A whistleblowing report should be based on concrete suspicions. You do not need to have evidence before raising a concern, but reports must not be made maliciously, knowingly contain false information, or be based solely on rumours or hearsay.

Who can file a whistleblowing report?

A whistleblowing report can be submitted by anyone who represents, works for, or is professionally active within Semmco or the wider organisation.

This may include employees, board members, shareholders working within the business, consultants, trainees, volunteers, temporary staff and other people working professionally with the organisation.

Can I report anonymously?

Yes. Trumpet is an external whistleblowing service designed to provide a secure reporting process where you can remain completely anonymous.

If you do not provide your name or other identifying information in your report, your identity will not be visible through the system. You may also choose to disclose your identity to the independent case officer while remaining anonymous to Semmco.

How are whistleblowing reports handled?

Reports are received through Trumpet and initially assessed by an independent external case officer experienced in assessing and investigating suspected misconduct.

When you submit a report, an encrypted case is created and you receive a unique encryption key. This allows you to securely access your case and communicate with the case officer.

Following the initial assessment, the case officer provides a recommendation to the organisation's Whistleblower Committee. If a member of the Committee is affected by the report, that person will be excluded from handling the case.

The status of the case and relevant decisions will then be communicated to you through the secure Trumpet system.
