Aviation Access

Aviation Access Platforms for Aircraft Maintenance

Semmco designs and manufactures aviation access platforms and maintenance steps that give engineers safe, stable access to aircraft during inspection, servicing and repair. Our solutions are developed for airlines, airports and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) organizations working in hangar and ramp environments.

Our aviation maintenance platforms are designed by engineers for engineers, combining practical functionality, robust construction and ease of use.

Access to Every Area of the Aircraft

The Aviation Access range covers platforms for landing gear and wheel bays, APUs, avionics bays, cargo and bulk cargo bays, passenger and service doors, stabilizers, pylons and fan cowls, as well as under-cowl access steps and refuelling platforms.

Platforms are available for Airbus, Boeing, ATR and Embraer aircraft, including the A320 family, A330, A350, A380, B737, B747, B777 and B787, where compatibility is specified. Universal platforms and engineers' maintenance steps support a wide range of tasks across mixed fleets.

Fixed Height, Variable Height and Towable Platforms

Choose fixed-height platforms and steps for repeatable tasks, or variable-height platforms with manual, winch or hydraulic adjustment when the working height changes. Towable versions are designed for line maintenance on the ramp, while hangar versions are optimized for maneuverability indoors.

Our aircraft access platforms feature lightweight aluminum construction, slip-resistant treads, guardrails and gated access to support safe working at height.

Frequently Asked Questions About Aviation Access

What does the Aviation Access range include?

The Aviation Access range includes aircraft maintenance platforms and steps for landing gear and wheel bays, APUs, avionics bays, cargo bays, passenger doors, stabilizers, pylons, fan cowls and refuelling, as well as under-cowl access steps.

Which aircraft are Semmco aviation access platforms designed for?

Platforms are available for Airbus, Boeing, ATR and Embraer aircraft, including the A320 family, A330, A350, A380, B737, B747, B777 and B787. Compatibility depends on the individual product and should always be checked against the aircraft model.

What is the difference between fixed-height and variable-height aircraft platforms?

Fixed-height platforms provide access at a set working height and suit repeatable tasks. Variable-height platforms can be adjusted manually, by winch or hydraulically, so engineers can set the working position to the aircraft and the task.

What is the difference between towable and hangar platforms?

Towable platforms have a tow bar and chassis designed for moving between aircraft on the ramp during line maintenance. Hangar platforms are designed for maneuverability indoors during base maintenance.

Are Semmco aviation access platforms suitable for mixed fleets?

Yes. Universal platforms and engineers' maintenance steps can be used across many aircraft types, helping maintenance teams make efficient use of their equipment.

Does Semmco offer bespoke aviation access solutions?

Yes. In addition to the standard range, Semmco develops bespoke access platforms designed around specific aircraft, maintenance tasks and hangar layouts.
